Lindsey Lindgren from Oakesdale High School and Ivory Miles-Williams from Lapwai High School were joined by coach Bob Sobotta from Lapwai, the Troy High School volleyball team, and Prairie's Pat Holthaus as the top award winners at the 11th annual Warrior Athletic Association High School Awards. High school athletes, coaches, players, teams and contributors were recognized Wednesday night at the 11th annual banquet and awards ceremony at the LC Activity Center.
Lindgren was joined by Lapwai's Koyama Young and Prairie's Chaye Uptmor as finalists for the Female Athlete of the Year. Joining Miles-Williams as finalists for the Male Athlete of the Year were Lewiston's Colton Richardson and Clearwater Valley's Cole Olsen. Team of the Year contenders, along with Troy volleyball, were Lapwai girls basketball and Oakesdale girls track and field. In the Coach of the Year division, joining Sobotta were Deary's Gordon Heath, Oakesdale's Cap Perry, and Potlatch's Jim Shepard. Holthaus were the recipient of the Rick Hill Meritorious Award, which is given annually to the person or persons who have given generously to their local high school. Joining him as finalists were Gerry Cathey (Clearwater Valley), Janet Shetzel (Troy), and Gene and Becky Albright (Clarkston).
Troy, Pomeroy and Clarkston high schools each received a $500 scholarship to Lewis-Clark State College to be awarded to the student of their choice.
