LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College baseball program currently has nine former players playing professionally in affiliated baseball, ranging from the MLB to Short Season A. Read below to see what the Warriors have been up to.
BLAINE HARDY – DETROIT TIGERS
Hardy (2008) is currently the only Warrior in the MLB and is 1-1 on the year with the Detroit Tigers. In 35 games this season, the reliever has tossed 42.2 innings with 27 strikeouts to go with an ERA of 4.43 and WHIP of 1.01. His career ERA sits at 3.72 through six years in the big leagues.
SETH BROWN – LAS VEGAS AVIATORS (AAA – OAKLAND ATHLETICS)
After getting the call to AAA this season, Brown (2015) has totaled 27 home runs through just 89 games. Currently batting .289 with an OPS of .951, the Oakland Athletics prospect had his first three-homer game back on April 15 to drive in six runs.
He was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for the second time in his career on July 29 after hitting a league-best eight home runs with 13 RBI in six games. Brown was named an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star for the Athletics the last two seasons.
CONNOR BROGDON – LEHIGH VALLEY IRONPIGS (AAA – PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES)
Brogdon (2016-17) is off to a strong start at the AAA level after getting the call up on June 28. He started the season for the Class A Clearwater Threshers and was in AAA less than two months later. So far this season, Brogdon has a 4-2 record with a 3.02 ERA. He has appeared in 38 games to record two saves and strikeout 82 in 59.2 innings.
COOPER GOLDBY – MIDLAND ROCKHOUNDS (AA – OAKLAND ATHLETICS)
In his third season of professional baseball, Goldby (2016-17) has appeared in 24 games for the Midland RockHounds of the Texas League. Throughout his career, Goldby has collected 19 hits. This season, he made the jump from A to AA in a transaction on June 9.
JACOB ZANON – ST. LUCIE METS (A (ADV) – NEW YORK METS)
Zanon (2016) has appeared in 81 games for the St. Lucie Mets this season and currently holds a .228 batting average. With seven home runs on the season, Zanon has driven in 42 runs and scored 39. He has also collected 16 stolen bases.
MICAH BROWN – JUPITER HAMMERHEADS (A (ADV) – MIAMI MARLINS)
Micah Brown (2015-17), the second of the Brown brothers in professional baseball at the moment, is competing for the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League where he faces Zanon's St. Lucie Mets. Brown is batting .210 this season with six home runs and 22 RBI.
SEAVER WHALEN – BOWLING GREEN HOT RODS (A – TAMPA BAY RAYS)
Whalen made the move from Advanced A to Full Season A when he was promoted from the Charlotte Stone Crabs on May 23 of this year. With the stone crabs, Whalen tallied 16 hits in 30 games and is now batting .245 after 41 games with the Hot Rods.
GAGE BURLAND – VANCOUVER CANADIANS (SHORT A – TORONTO BLUE JAYS)
Burland is currently enjoying a season close to home with the Canadians, who frequently visit the Spokane Indians in the Northwest League. After coming off the Injury List in late July, Burland threw one inning and recorded a strikeout against the Indians in front of friends and family in Spokane. So far this season, Burland has appeared in 12 games with 13.2 innings pitched. He has collected 18 strikeouts in his time on the mound.
TYLER BURCH – WILLIAMSPORT CROSSCUTTERS (SHORT A – PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES)
The most recent Warrior to hit the professional ranks, Burch is enjoying a solid start to his career. After tossing the final inning of a combined no-hitter in his professional debut with the GCL Phillies West, Burch was assigned to the Crosscutters. He has made six appearances with Williamsport and holds a 2-1 record. Most recently, Burch threw three and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball on July 31 and struck out six without walking a batter. On the season, he has an ERA of 3.00 with 14 strikeouts and just three walks in 15 innings pitched.
