CORVALLIS, Oregon – Lewis-Clark State Men's Cross Country was predicted to win the Cascade Conference Men's Cross Country Championship, while the women were picked to finish third in the first Cascade Conference Preseason Poll for LC State.

"We are excited to enter the Cascade Conference," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "Its history of excellence is known all across the country. I have no doubt that the bar has been raised and our teams will be working hard."

The Warrior men earned 118 points in the poll, besting defending conference champion College of Idaho by 15 points. LC State garnered nine out of 11 first-place votes after finishing a program-best third place at nationals in 2019. LC State returns every runner that raced at the national meet, including three All-Americans.

"The preseason polls are nice, but with a spring championship in track at the same time it puts a bizarre twist into it all, and it is hard to say how good we will be six to seven months from now when the cross country championships will be contested," Collins explained. "It is very possible for us, as well as other teams, that crucial people will be sitting it out because of track, their education goals and the general state of training. We are definitely looking forward to competing as we will have been out of it for almost a year when we get started."

The first national poll is set to be released by the NAIA on Oct. 1.
