LEWISTON, Idaho – Clay Shumaker of Nampa, Idaho, will join the Warrior family in the fall after signing to become a member of the Lewis-Clark State College State Cross Country team. Shumaker finished his senior season last weekend with a fourth-place finish at the 5A Idaho State Cross Country Championships, running a time of 16:02 in the 5,000m race.

"Clay has been running at a high level for a high school program that has been continuing to develop, so we are excited to see him with us this fall as we will have some big shoes to fill, and I believe that Clay has the potential to come in and help fill those right away," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "He runs in one of the most competitive districts in the state, so stepping into one of the most competitive conferences in the country should be familiar. He is a well-rounded kid with a great GPA and great attitude, and we know he will come in and help to continue the tradition we have here."

Shumaker prepped at Skyview High School and competed in four years of varsity cross country. He ran the fastest 5,000m time in school history this year for the Hawks with a time of 15:42.

Shumaker chose LC because he wanted a small school environment and wanted to compete for a school with a large team emphasis. He plans on studying Computer Science in hopes of pursuing a career as a software engineer.
