RESULTS
CALDWELL, Idaho – After a strong start for the Warriors on day one, Lewis-Clark State Track and Field continued to shine on the second day of the Polar Vortex Classic. Clayton VanDyke and Cole Olsen both had victories and dominated in distance events, while both women's relays made strong arguments for spots at the national championships next month.
"Pretty pleased with our second day of competition," Head Coach Mike Collins said. "Some nice performances and hopefully, by the time all these national-qualifying standards have been set, we will have a good group of kids that will get to represent the school at nationals this year. I am pleased with our two relays that looks to have qualified today, both our women's 4x800m and our women's 4x400m, so we will hopefully return to nationals with those teams with both some seasoned runners, as well as some new people. Cole had a nice day today in the 3,000m and winning that run. I think we had some PRs with our throwers todays as well in their events.
"Right now we are just feeling very grateful to have the opportunity to compete and hopefully we get more opportunities as we head into the spring season," Collins continued. "Looks like right now we are potentially having 11 kids travel to nationals if everything works out, maybe another one or two depending on how things fall, which is actually more than I thought we might have before the day started. But we'll take it and hopefully be able to go back there and get some hardware for some young kids representing Lewis-Clark State."
