CORVALLIS, Ore. –
Cole Olsen and the Warriors wrapped up the cross country season with an eighth-place team finish at the 2020 NAIA Cross Country National Championships last week. The All-American and West Region Runner of the Year was named the Cascade Conference Runner of the Year, announced by the conference on Thursday.
"Great to see the conference recognize Cole for a resume of the season that has to be one of the best in the country, let alone the Cascade Conference," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. He has definitely earned it. One of our big philosophical stances within our program that we ask each runner to adopt is whether they are making themselves and their team better or worse. Cole, through hard work and determination, has made both himself and his team better. Looking for even better things in the future."
Before his 15
th-place finish at nationals, Olsen won the individual title at the Cascade Conference Championships with a time of 24:18 to best the second-place runner by 14 seconds. The Clearwater, Idaho native was 4-for-5 this season, with the only race he did not win being nationals. Olsen dominated at the Bushnell Invitational and both LC State Winter Invitationals.
The senior helped LC State to its first Cascade Conference title, and fourth straight conference title since he joined the program (previously members of the Frontier Conference).
