NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the 2020 NAIA Men's and Women's All-Academic Teams and Athletes on Thursday. The LC State Women's Cross Country team was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team with a 3.54 team GPA, while five women and three men earned individual honors.
"We love seeing our teams and student-athletes getting this kind of recognition," Head Coach
Mike Collins said. "Not only are they performing at a high level with their running, but seeing that commitment and effort in the classroom is inspiring."
On the women's side the school was represented by
Emily Adams,
Rylee Brown,
Callie Johnson,
Maja Plaznik and
Brooklyn Shell.
Cole Olsen,
Connor Turpin and
Clayton VanDyke represented the men's team.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and qualify for the national championship meet. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
