Men's Cross Country | 09.23.2021
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Both Lewis-Clark State Cross Country teams were victorious at the EOU Invitational on Sept. 17, and both were rewarded with new spots in the NAIA rankings. The men's team jumped one spot to now sit in the top five, while the women did the same and earned a spot in the top 10.
The No. 5 LC State men won the EOU Invitational by 24 points, the largest gap in the team scoring. Senior
Cole Olsen led the Warriors with a second-place finish, while
Clayton VanDyke,
Brycen Brown and
Brycen Kempton finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
Griffin Parsells rounded out the top 10 for LC State. The Warriors finished ahead of No. 14 College of Idaho and No. 24 Eastern Oregon.
After a huge victory for the women, the LC State Women's Cross Country team moved to No. 10 in the rankings. The Warriors won the EOU Invitational, and in the process defeated then-No. 3 College of Idaho. LC bested the Yotes, now seventh-ranked, by one point.
Maja Plaznik led LC in the race with a fourth-place finish.
Callie Johnson and
Rylee Brown placed sixth and seventh, respectively, and
Geraldin Correa was ninth.
The Warriors continue their season at the Willamette Invitational on Oct. 2 in Salem, Ore. They host the Inland Empire Championships at the LC State Cross Country Trail on Oct. 16.
