Warrior Weekly Preview - Sept. 27-Oct. 2

LEWISTON, Idaho - Three LC State programs will be in action this week, with golf kicking off the week with the Warrior Invitational on Monday. The tournament, one of three conference events, will be played at the Lewiston Golf & Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. LC State Volleyball hits the road for a pair of matches against two of the top teams in the Cascade, while cross country hits the course for the third time this season. Women's golf, following action in Lewiston, will join volleyball and cross country in Oregon for an NCAA Division III tournament.

GOLF

As part of a busy few weeks for the Warrior Golf teams, LC State Golf will host the Warrior Invitational in Lewiston on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament, the second of three Cascade Conference events this season, will count towards the conference standings. Live scoring will be available and fans are allowed to watch play at the course.

The Warrior men make a quick turnaround after a strong showing at the NCAA DII Saint Martin's Invitational. LC State finished third of 12 teams as the only NAIA team in the competition. Kristof Panke led the Warriors in a tie for 11th, while Jorgen Lie Viken was a stroke behind in a tie for 13th.

LC State's women wrap up the week in Newberg, Ore. at the NCAA DIII George Fox Invitational. Live scoring will be available for the tournament for fans to be able to follow along. In their last outing, the Warrior women finished third at the UBC Invitational, led by Alexandra Schmidt in a tie for sixth.

VOLLEYBALL

LC State Volleyball capped the long home stand with its fifth win in a row after a sweep of Multnomah. The Warriors took down Warner Pacific in four sets the night before behind a season-high 18 kills from Jada Wyms. LC improved to 11-6 overall and 6-3 in CCC play with the two victories over the weekend.

The Warriors have a tough weekend ahead with a pair of matches in Oregon. LC will open the trip on Friday with a match at No. 7 Corban University. The Corban Warriors have not dropped a match all season and are the top ranked team in the CCC. On Saturday, the Warriors take on (RV) Bushnell, currently third in the conference standings.

LC was 0-4 combined against the two teams last season, but have added a great deal of depth to the roster since the spring. Live stats and streaming will be available for both matches. The live streams, produced by the home teams, may have a fee for watching.

CROSS COUNTRY

Warrior Cross Country returns to action on Saturday at the NCAA DIII Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. In the last outing, both LC teams won their respective races at the EOU Invitational. The men dominated for their first-place team finish, led by Cole Olsen in second place. The Warrior women edged then-No. 3 College of Idaho to capture the team title. Maja Plaznik led the team with a fourth-place finish.

With the success of both teams at EOU, both moved up one place in the NAIA rankings. The LC men took a spot in the top five at No. 5, while the women made their way into the top 10 at No. 10. The race at Willamette will be the final race before LC hosts the Inland Empire Championships at the LC State Cross Country Trail on Oct. 16.

Just two regular-season races remain for LC State before the Cascade Conference Championships on Nov. 5. Nationals will take place on Nov. 19 in Vancouver, Wash.
