WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The No. 22 Warrior women had a successful weekend at home where they defeated No. 25 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) in back-to-back games. LC State rolled past the Battlin’ Bears 95-69 on Friday before earning an 80-73 win in double-overtime on Saturday. Callie Stevens was voted the Cascade Conference Player of the Week after dropping 28 points and grabbing eight rebounds on Saturday.
The Warriors open the weekend with an exhibition with NCAA Division III Whitman College on Thursday before taking on Montana Tech on Saturday. LC faced Whitman last season and earned an 81-77 win and is 10-0 against the Blues dating back to 2004. The contest will not count towards the overall record and individual stats will not count.
The 2021 meeting between the Warriors and Orediggers marked the first triple-overtime game in program history, and LC State came away with a 79-74 win. Sara Muehlhausen was key in the game with 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Maddie Holm played a huge role with 16 rebounds and 14 points. LC State is 39-7 against Montana Tech dating back to 2004.
Tip-off on Thursday is set for 6 p.m., and the women’s game on Saturday will follow the men’s 2 p.m. contest.
