Warrior Weekly Preview - Dec. 12-18

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The 13th-ranked LC State Women’s Basketball team picked up a huge upset victory over rival No. 9 Carroll College on Friday behind a career-high 20 points by Ellie Sander. The sophomore put together her best game as a Warrior to help lead LC to the 62-50 win over the top-10 opponent. LC also defeated NCAA Division III George Fox 70-41 to sweep the weekend. LC State is now 8-1 overall heading into matchups with Corban and Bushnell this weekend on the road.

The LC State Warrior women are 6-1 against the Corban Warriors dating back to 2004. LC has won the last six meetings including a 105-52 victory at home last season. Callie Stevens scored 27 points in the contest and Maddie Holm notched a double-double with 22 points and 10 boards. Adyson Clabby also completed a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. Stevens scored another 16 points in the 75-56 win in Salem and Sara Muehlhausen had 10 rebounds. 

LC State is 5-0 against Bushnell dating back to 2009, including a 71-53 win in the Cascade Conference tournament last season. Stevens dropped 26 points while Holm and Muehlhausen each had 13 rebounds. Stevens scored 30 against the Beacons in Eugene and 20 in the first meeting in Lewiston last season. 

The Warrior women are 12th in the NAIA in rebounding with 45.8 per game and eighth in blocks per game with 4.8.

Individually, Hannah Broyles is fourth in the NAIA in 3-pointers made per game (3.3). Muehlhausen is seventh in blocks per game (2.3).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The LC State men rolled past Northwest Indiana College in exhibition play on Thursday, led by a big night from freshman John Lustig. The Colfax, Wash., native had a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, and Sam Stockton also finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds to go with seven assists.  The Warriors are 5-4 overall with the victory not impacting the season record and take on Corban and Bushnell this weekend on the road.

The LC Warriors are 9-1 against Corban dating back to 2005. LC split with the Corban Warriors last season, falling at home 88-78 before defeating Corban in Salem 68-67. Oreon Courtney notched a double-double with a team-leading 21 points and 11 rebounds. 

LC is 4-0 against Bushnell dating back to 2009. The Warriors took the first meeting last season in Lewiston by a final of 93-82, then defeated the Beacons 71-60 in Eugene. Silas Bennion tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, and Courtney had 10 points and five boards.
