Warrior Weekly Preview - Dec. 26-31

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The No. 10 Warrior women are riding a 10-game winning streak heading into the final games of 2022, including a key matchup with the No. 20 Eastern Oregon Mountaineers on Friday. LC State (10-1) and EOU (10-1) are the final unbeaten teams in the Cascade Conference with 5-0 records in CCC play. The Warriors will host in-state rival College of Idaho (7-4, 2-3 CCC) to close out the calendar year on Saturday.

LC State is 6-4 against the Mounties dating back to 2006 and split their meetings last year. EOU was the only team to beat the Warrior women on the court during the 2021-22 regular season. Callie Stevens dropped 30 points in the 71-67 victory in the second meeting. EOU leads the CCC in scoring average, free throw percentage, field goal percentage and 3-point field goal percentage. LC State leads the CCC in scoring margin, field goal percentage defense, rebounding, blocks per game and turnover margin.

The Warriors are 13-0 against the Yotes dating back to 2007 and last faced C of I in the CCC tournament last season. LC defeated C of I three times last year by finals of 66-53, 75-48 and 61-58.  ICCU is the sponsor of Saturday’s games.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

LC State Men’s Basketball has a tough weekend ahead to close out the 2022 portion of the schedule. The Warriors (6-5, 3-2 CCC) open the weekend with EOU (7-4, 4-1 CCC) before taking on No. 3 College of Idaho (10-1, 5-0 CCC) on Saturday.

The Warriors are 3-4 against EOU dating back to 2008, with all three victories coming last season. LC State swept the season series with the Mounties, including a dramatic 58-57 win in the CCC tournament. Silas Bennion led LC in the contest with 16 points and three steals with go with seven rebounds. 

LC State is 8-6 against the Yotes dating back to 2002 but fell in both meetings last season. C of I is currently one of the strongest teams in the NAIA with its only loss of the season coming to No. 1 Arizona Christian. ICCU is the sponsor of Saturday’s games.
