WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Lewis-Clark State College Women's Golf team enjoyed a solid outing in a rare match play tri-meet Saturday as it defeated both NCAA Division III Whitworth 3.5-2.5 and Whitman 4.5-0.5 at Veterans Memorial Golf Course.
The event is the only match-play format the Warriors are scheduled to play in this season.
"This was a great experience for the girls," Warrior coach
Brady Campbell said. "Playing a different format than we usually do allowed them to be competitive and change things up a bit. With match play we can be a little more aggressive and the girls did well today. Beating both teams is a nice confidence booster for us going into the Vegas event next week."
Senior
Deana Caruso and sophomores
Kyla Currie and
Mylaina Parker posted 2-0 records on the day for LC State. Caruso won her match 4&2 against Whitman and then won 2-up against Whitworth. Currie won big 9&8 against Whitman and 4&3 against Whitworth. Parker earned a forfeit victory against Whitman and a 4&2 win against Whitworth.
Because the players didn't have to putt out every hole, no individual scoring was kept.
Both Warrior teams will be back in action on March 15-16 at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate, which will be played in Henderson, Nev.
