WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The back-to-back Cascade Conference Under Armour Team of the Week enters 2023 as the top team in the CCC standings after big wins over No. 20 Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho. The No. 10 LC State Women’s Basketball team (12-1, 7-0) has shown that any player can step up on any given night, with Ellie Sander leading the Warriors with 19 points against EOU and Maddie Holm notching a 21-point, 14-rebound double-double against C of I. LC State will open the new calendar year in Portland against Warner Pacific on Friday and Multnomah on Saturday.
The Warriors are 9-0 against Warner Pacific (0-12, 0-7) dating back to 2005. In the most recent meeting, LC State defeated the Knights 87-52 behind 18 points by Callie Stevens and 14 each from Sara Muehlhausen and Hannah Broyles.
LC is 4-0 against Multnomah (3-10, 1-6) dating back to 2015. In the Warriors’ 91-78 victory last season in Portland, Stevens dropped 24 points and Muehlhausen notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
LC currently leads the Cascade in field goal percentage defense (.320), rebounding (46.2 per game), blocks per game (4.7) and turnover margin (18.7). The Warriors rank eighth in the NAIA in blocks per game and ninth in rebounding. Muehlhausen leads the CCC in blocks (33) and blocks per game (2.5).
