Warrior Weekly Preview - Oct. 16-21

VOLLEYBALL

Warrior Volleyball is back in the P1FCU Activity Center this weekend to celebrate LC State’s 2023 Homecoming week. The Warriors take on No. 16 Southern Oregon on Friday and Oregon Tech on Saturday.

Friday night is International Student Night in the gym, as well as Homecoming, sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union. High school students can show their student ID at the ticket window for free admission.

Southern Oregon holds the series record 9-1 dating back to 2011. The Raiders swept LC State earlier this season and currently lead the Cascade Conference in assists per set (12.34) and kills per set (13.39). SOU’s Hannah Stadstad leads the conference in attack percentage (.363) and Sadie Byrd is second in blocks per set (1.39).

The Warriors will celebrate Dig Pink night on Saturday, sponsored by the Lewiston Tribune, and the first 50 fans and first 50 Warrior Zone members will receive a pink LC sticker. LC State will also honor two-time NAIA High Jump National Champion and Lewiston native Jennah Carpenter in a ceremony between the second and third sets.

LC State is 4-6 against the Owls dating back to 2018 and fell in three sets in the first meeting of the season. OIT’s Paige Tevelde leads the CCC in assists per set (5.96).

No. 6 Corban leads the Cascade Conference heading into the weekend with a 15-1 record in CCC play. No. 3 Eastern Oregon is second at 14-1, and SOU is third at 12-4. OIT sits seventh, one spot ahead of LC State, with a 7-9 CCC record. The Warriors currently hold the final conference tournament spot at eighth with a 6-10 record.
