GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four LC State Volleyball student-athletes added College Sports Communicators Academic All-District to their 2023 season on Tuesday. Kenzie Dean, Juliauna Forgach Aguilar, Missy Mortensen and Abbey Neff each earned the honor for the first time in their careers.

The award takes into account both academic and athletics success. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and be a key contributor on the court.

"The CSC Academic All-District honors are indeed prestigious, recognizing student-athletes for their outstanding achievements both in their sport and in the classroom," Head Coach Katie Palmer said. "It's a significant accomplishment for Jules, Kenzie, Missy, and Abbey Neff to earn this recognition, as it reflects their dedication and hard work in balancing their academic responsibilities with their athletic commitments. This is an exciting moment for these four Warriors, and it's great to see their efforts being acknowledged."

Forgach Aguilar has a standout sophomore season that earned First-Team All-Cascade Conference and AVCA All-Northwest Region Honorable Mention accolades. The outside hitter was the team's leader in kills per set (3.83) which ranks second-best in a single season at LC State, as well as kills (397), points (420) and points per set (4.16) which ranks eighth-best in a season. Forgach Aguilar accomplished this with a 3.97 grade point average as a Sport Management student.

Dean will graduate this spring with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Health. She earned a grade point average of 3.51 heading into her final semester and concluded her Warrior career ranked second all-time in career digs with 1,659. The senior led LC State in digs per set (3.90) this season and averaged 3.79 digs per set through her five-year career.

In her first season at LC State, Mortensen finished the year ranking second on the team in blocks with 64 and led the Warriors in attack percentage (.244). The junior tallied 96 kills and maintains a 3.81 grade point average as a Radiographic Science major.

A fellow Radiographic Science major, Neff is also minoring in Business Administration. The junior holds a grade point average of 3.92 and led the Warriors in assists (342) and assists per set (3.84) this season. In her first year at LC State, Neff collected 116 digs for 1.30 per set.
