VOLLEYBALL
LC State Volleyball faces a tough challenge this weekend when the defending NAIA National Runner-Up, Corban, comes to the P1FCU Activity Center. The battle of the Warriors coincides with the first Warrior Zone event of the year with Sept. 15’s Red Rush.
“We’re looking forward to being back on our home court as we host two great opponents,” Head Coach Katie Palmer said. “Friday night is our Red Rush against Corban so it will be a great atmosphere with our crowd wearing red and cheering on the Warriors. Saturday we’re bringing all of our campers back from this summer with free admission to continue inspiring the future volleyball players of our community.”
The LC Warriors are 1-6 against the No. 5 Corban Warriors dating back to 2018. LC pushed Corban to five sets last season in Lewiston in one of the best matches of the year. Corban is currently tied for the top spot in the Cascade Conference with a perfect 5-0 record and was named the CCC Team of the Week. The reigning NAIA National Attacker of the Year, Rylee Troutman, leads the conference in kills per set with 4.02, just ahead of Juliauna Forgach Aguilar’s 3.79.
Happy Day is the sponsor of Friday’s match where all fans are encouraged to wear red. The first 100 Warrior Zone student members at the match will receive a limited-edition red Warrior Zone t-shirt.
Bushnell comes to town on Saturday to close out the weekend. The Warriors are 5-5 against the Beacons dating back to 2010 and split the season series in 2022. LC took the contest in Lewiston 3-1 before falling by the same score in Eugene. The Beacons are 4-1 in conference play to sit third in the standings.
Saturday’s match is sponsored by the Pepsi. The team will host a volleyball camper reunion where 2023 summer campers will receive free admission. Find more information HERE.
