SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Seniors Kyla Currie and Deana Caruso led the LC State Women's Golf team to a tight-fought second-place finish, and the men also finished second, at the Corban Invitational at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

The No. 25 Warrior women had the best round of any team on Tuesday and finished just two strokes behind No. 1 British Columbia. LC State shot a 37-over, 325 as a team in the second round, three better than the Thunderbirds on the day.

"The girls hung in there paced by our seniors Kyla and Deana," coach Zach Anderson said. "Although we still gave up shots coming in, we are still within reach of putting it together."

Currie improved from her first round by one stroke and finished in a tie for second, five shots behind individual winner Abigail Chow of British Columbia. Caruso moved into the top-ten with her 6-over, 78. Dallis Shockey improved by four shots from her first round, shooting an 81 and finished in 11th.

The No. 20 LC State men had the second-best round on Tuesday, trailing only No. 2 and tournament winner British Columbia with a second consecutive 14-over, 302 team score. The effort extended the gap the Warriors had over third place Southern Oregon to 11 shots.

"The guys had ups and downs," Anderson said. "Just haven't been able to find that rhythm yet this season. Still a lot of things to clean up. I'm confident we will get there, just in a bit of a lull right now."

Alex Navarro struggled in his final round, shooting a 78, but held onto a top-10 finish in eighth. Juan Pablo Quisoboni shot a 74, his best round of the tournament, to get back into the top ten, finishing in a tie for ninth. Bryden Brown and Owen Pearson finished in a three-way tie for 11th, one stroke behind Quisoboni. Pearson played as an individual and did not count toward the team total.
