LEWISTON, Idaho – Dawson Welliver is the latest addition to LC State Cross Country, announced by coach Mike Collins on Tuesday. The native of University Place, Wash., will join the Warriors in the fall out of Green River College.

"We are looking forward to having Dawson in our program," Collins said. "He is very young to running with only a few years of really trying to run competitively and he is really motivated to get better. This is really evidenced by his dramatic improvements in just his first year of collegiate running. It will be great to see what he does when he is around a group of similarly motivated guys. A great student and a truly nice person. It will be fun to watch him develop."

Welliver will bring collegiate experience to LC State after a year of competing at Green River College in the NWAC. With the Gators, he helped the team place second at the NWAC Cross Country Championships and was named a team captain. He has a personal-best time of 27:30 in the 8k and 16:12 in the 5k.

At Curtis Senior High School, Welliver and helped his team win the 4A SPSL Cross Country title this season. The team went on to finish second at districts and ninth at State. He was named a team captain and earned the Burt Wells Award as a team role model.
