MEN'S TENNIS

The Warrior men (8-7), receiving votes in the national poll, have won four straight matches including a pair of big NAIA victories. Prior to defeating NCAA Division III programs Whitman and Whitworth last week, LC State upset then-No. 12 William Woods (Mo.) and took down Texas Wesleyan at the Texas Wesleyan Invitational. The Warriors will take the momentum into tough top-15 matchups this weekend at the Xavier/Dillard Invitational in New Orleans. 

The Warriors open the tournament with a matchup against Loyola (La.) who they defeated last season 5-2. LC State is 2-1 against the Wolfpack since 2019. Warrior Men’s Tennis will then take on No. 6 William Carey (Miss.), a team they last faced in 2020.

LC State takes on No. 15 Dillard (La.) on Saturday after a 7-0 loss last season. The Warriors close out the tournament against No. 7 Xavier (La.) and are 0-5 against XULA since 2019.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

The LC State Women’s Tennis team (6-8) will also head to New Orleans this weekend for the Xavier/Dillard Invitational and will take on four top-10 NAIA teams over the course of the weekend. 

The Warriors open the weekend with No. 8 Loyola (La.), a team they are 0-3 against in the last three meetings. LC State takes on No. 5 Williams Carey (Miss.) on Friday.

The Warrior women face No. 10 Dillard (La.) on Saturday and won the most recent meeting in 2022. Current assistant coach Bonolo Arroyo Valenzuela (Molefe) earned a doubles and singles win to help LC State in the victory. The tournament wraps up on Sunday when the Warriors take on No. 8 Xavier (La.).

TRACK & FIELD

LC State Track and Field continues its outdoor season split between two meets this weekend. A large portion of the team will head back to Spokane for the Bucs Scoring and Multi, while a select group travels to Eugene for the Oregon Preview. 

The Warriors opened the spring at the Sam Adams Classic, hosted by Whitworth, and had multiple athletes qualify for the Cascade Conference meet. Perry Severijnse made his debut in the javelin and impressed with the second-best throw in program history. LC State saw multiple PRs and victories across the board. 

BASEBALL

No. 24 LC State (14-7, 11-2) swept Eastern Oregon (7-15, 4-9) at Harris Field earlier this season and has won eight straight heading into the four-game Cascade Conference series in La Grande against the Mountaineers this weekend. 

The Warriors outscored EOU 39-8 in the series and Jadon Williamson was voted the CCC pitcher of the week after striking out 15 batters in seven scoreless innings. Ike George led LC State at the plate with a .571 batting average on eight hits and Charlie Updegrave knocked in eight runs. 

Williamson leads the CCC in ERA (1.38), opponent batting average (.195) and strikeouts (44). Williamson and Evan Canfield are tied for the lead in wins with four each.

Ike George is the top player in the conference in on-base percentage (.516) and Charlie Updegrave leads in doubles (10). He is second in slugging (.733) and RBI (28).

Updegrave is tied with EOU’s Parker Cumberland for the lead in doubles and Danny Burns leads the CCC in triple with four.
