No. 22 LC State wraps up the regular season with British Columbia at home this weekend. The four-game series will determine the regular season CCC champion, as well as the site for the 2025 CCC postseason tournament. The Warriors trail UBC by one game in the conference standings heading into the series.
The Warriors and Thunderbirds split the first four-game set earlier this season, but LC State took two of the three CCC games in the series. The rivalry between LC State and UBC has grown over recent years with the two becoming familiar postseason opponents. The Warriors need to win three of the four games this weekend to secure the regular season title and hosting duties for the tournament.
Jakob Marquez led the Warriors at the plate in Canada with a .538 batting average (7-for-13). Jadon Williamson tossed five one-hit innings and Jackson Cloud threw three scoreless to lead the team on the mound.
UBC leads the CCC in slugging percentage (.553), runs scored (424), hits (519), RBI (381) and home runs (75). The Warriors are second in slugging (.539), on-base percentage (.432), RBI (361) and home runs (71). On the mound, LC State leads the Cascade in strikeouts (364) and is second in ERA (4.76) and saves (14).
Jonny McGill of UBC leads the conference in batting average (.429), slugging (.798), runs scored (62) and hits (72). Aaron Marsh leads in doubles (18). Will Anderson (2.81) and Ryan Heppner (3.38) are second and third in ERA, respectively, and also both in the top five for strikeouts.
For LC State, Ike George leads the CCC in on-base percentage (.521) and Charlie Updegrave leads in home runs (16). Jadon Williamson has the best ERA In the conference (2.50) and also leads in opposing batting average (.202) and strikeouts (84).
LC State will celebrate its 21 seniors on Sunday ahead of the 11 a.m. contest. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the ceremony.
