RESULTS
FERNDALE, Wash. – The No. 25 LC State Men's Cross Country team saw multiple personal bests in Ferndale on Saturday at Western Washington's Bill Roe Invitational. Four seniors and a freshman made up the Warriors' top five and three runners ran the fastest 8k of their career.
"The men's race had some ups and downs," coach
Mike Collins said. "We had quite a few PRs, but our team results weren't exactly what we were looking for today. However, when it came to race strategy and what we're trying to accomplish, I thought we made some good steps today. We just need to make some improvements."
LC State placed 10
th overall as a team with
Kobe Wessels in 40
th place (25:23.2).
Connor Alexander ran a personal best time of 25:31.6 to finish 46
th and freshman
Sven Druijff was the third Warrior finisher and crossed the line 59
th (25:52.3).
Senior
Alexander Fry was the fourth LC State runner to cross the line and did so in 62
nd place (25:59.2).
Tristin O'Brien rounded out the top five for the Warriors in 76
th (26:16.7) and
Ben Vernon finished 79
th (26:20.8).
Freshman
Malachi Walsh ran a season best time of 26:52.3 to finish 96
th in the field of 146 runners and
Manuel Valdez was 112
th (28:07.0).
Dawson Welliver placed 120
th with a PR of 28:48.3 and
Jace Joslyn finished 127
th (29:14.7).
"Nice step up today from Malachi and good seeing Sven in the mix as well," Collins said. "It's great to see Kobe back up front and running well. I think we left a lot in the tank with a lot of our guys today so we were just a little bit too conservative at the start and that is something we are working on."
