MOAPA, Nev. – The (RV) LC State Women's Golf team sits in first place halfway through the OUAZ Spring Invite at Coyote Springs Golf Course in Moapa, Nev. The field made it through about half of the second round before play was paused due to darkness. The second round will resume ahead of the third and final round on Tuesday. Three LC State golfers sit in the top five currently.
"The women really hung in there mentally," coach
Zach Anderson said. "They had some adversity hit them early, but put in some hard work to keep it on track. The course set up for them is playing difficult, but they found a way or made one as the day went on. We talked about being disciplined and they did a great job of that. Lots of golf left in this tournament but I'm happy with a lot of the things I saw from them today."
The Warrior women shot 315 as a team in the first 18 holes to lead the field of eight teams. Sophomore
Giulia Belfontali leads the group in third place through her first 30 holes.
LC State holds a seven-stroke lead over No. 14 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and Belfontali is two strokes off the individual lead.
Belfontali carded a 6-over, 78 in round one with three birdies. She is through 12 holes in her second round and is 1-over heading into her 13
th hole.
Freshman
Taylor Mire is one stroke behind after an 8-over, 80 in the first round.
Isabella Barquet is one stroke back in fifth with a 4-over, 76 in round one and is currently 5-over in round two.
Senior
Dallis Shockey carded a 9-over, 81 in her first 18 holes to sit in a tie for eighth. Like Barquet, she is also 5-over in the second round.
Jane Barry rounded out the group in a tie for 15
th with a round of 84 to start the tournament. She is 6-over so far in the second round.

The second round will resume on Tuesday before the third and final round of play at the OUAZ Spring Invite.
