Warrior Women’s Golf and Tennis Earn Conference Weekly Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A pair of Warrior women earned weekly honors from their respective conferences on Monday. Giulia Belfontali was voted the Cascade Conference McDonald's Women’s Golfer of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, and Rayana Shah was named the GSAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions.

GIULIA BELFONTALI – WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Belfontali earned her second straight individual win and third of her career with a standout performance at the OUAZ Spring Invitational. The sophomore bested multiple top 50 golfers with her 13-over score of 229 on rounds of 78-77-74. Her third round score of 74 was the lowest of the tournament and helped LC State finish second as a team.

This is Belfontali’s second weekly honor of the season.

RAYANA SHAH – WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shah was the lone Warrior to earn two singles victories and a doubles win over the weekend. She earned a win against NCAA Division I Portland State after her opponent retired with an injury, then battled to a victory against DIII Pacific. She pushed that contest to three sets before an injury ended the match. Shah teamed up with Ana Govea for a 7-5 victory in No. 2 doubles against Pacific. 

This is the first weekly honor of Shah’s career and first for LC State Tennis since joining the GSAC.

LC State Golf is back in action Mar. 14-15 at the Willamette Valley Cup, and Warrior Women’s Tennis hosts NCAA Division I Idaho State on Mar. 14.
