PORTLAND, Ore. – No. 18 LC State Women's Golf holds a third-place position after round one of the Tournament of Knights, hosted by Warner Pacific (Ore.). The tournament, played at Glendoveer Golf Course, counts towards the Cascade Conference tournament standings.
The Warrior women shot 37-over, 329 on day one to put them nine strokes off the second-place team, No. 22 Oregon Tech. The No. 4 Thunderbirds of British Columbia hold the top spot with an 11-stroke lead on Oregon Tech.
"Not our best today. Really crumbled in the latter part of the round. The course was set up extremely tough for the women and we just weren't able to hold it together," coach
Zach Anderson said. "We get another chance at it tomorrow, where we have to be better."
Junior
Isabella Barquet leads the Warriors after she finished day one of the competition in seventh place. She carded 7-over, 80, which included a very strong front nine where she only had one bogey.
Senior
Dallis Shockey sits one stroke off Barquet. The senior posted 8-over, 81 in round one which has her in ninth place.
Sophomores
Jane Barry and
Giulia Belfontali finished the first 18 holes tied for 16
th as both carded an 11-over, 84.
Taylor Mire sits in 27th. The freshman shot 16-over, 89 in round one.
UP NEXT
LC State wraps up the regular season on Tuesday at the Tournament of Knights. The Warriors tee off at 8 a.m. in Portland.
