LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State Association of Student-Athletes (ASA) hosted the eighth annual LCSPYs award show on Wednesday night and handed out 15 awards in the P1FCU Activity Center.
The awards included Men's and Women's Freshmen of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Men's and Women's Heart of a Warrior, Breakthrough Athletes of the Year, Men's and Women's Comeback Athlete of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, Men's and Women's Team of the Year and Warrior of the Year.
ASA representatives from each team nominated and voted on behalf of their teams for 14 of the 15 award categories. Coaches nominated and voted for Warrior of the Year, which recognizes the student-athlete that best represents the "Warrior Way" on the field of play, in the classroom and in the community.
LC State Volleyball led with a combined four awards on the night, taking home Women's Freshman of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Women's Team of the Year and Warrior of the Year. Men's basketball also earned four awards in Men's Heart of a Warrior, Men's Comeback Athlete of the Year, Men's Team of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year.
The night's biggest honor went to volleyball senior Juliauna Forgach Aguilar who was voted the Warrior of the Year by the coaching staff.
