- Each student-athlete is required to have primary insurance coverage that works in this area and covers athletic related injuries/illnesses.
- Failure to follow insurance requirements will result in the voiding of athletic department secondary insurance and may jeopardize participation in practice & games.
- There is an athletic department secondary insurance; however, it is only for athletic related injury and cannot work as a primary insurance.
- All voluntary workouts will not be covered by the schools secondary policy. This includes voluntary summer, and voluntary out of season workouts.
Based on your category, please make sure you read the associated section. All student athletes fall into 1 of 3 categories:
- A. International student athletes
- B. Domestic in-state student athletes (Idaho residents)
- C. Domestic out-of-state student athletes (Residents of another US state other than Idaho)
A. (International) BEFORE COMING TO SCHOOL BE SURE:
All International LCSC athletic students are required to have the international student-athlete insurance policy. This plan must be purchased for the full year; you may not purchase coverage month-to-month.
- Please complete all appropriate forms, and pay the premium for the LCSC-approved health insurance.
- Students must print out confirmation of the insurance purchase and/or their ID card from PGH Global.
- Lastly they must complete the insurance information requested on-line in the ATS portal for athletes.
B. (Domestic in-state) BEFORE COMING TO SCHOOL BE SURE:
- Your personal insurance must meet these criteria:
a) Pay benefits for athletic injuries/illnesses including dental.
b) Pay the first $2,500 of reasonable and customary charges.
c) Pay benefits in one or more of these zip codes:
83501, 99403, 83843, 99164 or 99163
Required for Parents & Athletes: For Idaho residents, you will need to contact your insurance company and provide them with the information that your son/daughter is attending college in Lewiston, so benefits are clearly understood.
If your insurance does not provide coverage in this area you can do 1 of 2 things:
- Use the move to Lewiston as a "qualifying event" and change the policy without changing carriers or
- Purchase a policy that will meet the above requirements. The link to purchase other insurance is https://www.yourhealthidaho.org/. Link to you healthidaho.org. Please be aware: You will likely need to purchase a temporary plan until the open enrollment period in November allows you to purchase full-time coverage.
Lastly when the student-athlete is covered under a parental or personal insurance company and it meets the criteria listed above, then he/she can fill out the insurance information requested on-line in the ATS portal for athletes.

C. (Domestic out-of-state) BEFORE COMING TO SCHOOL BE SURE:
- Your personal insurance must meet these criteria:
a) Pay benefits for athletic injuries/illnesses including dental.
b) Pay the first $2,500 of reasonable and customary charges.
c) Pay benefits in one or more of these zip codes:
83501, 99403, 83843, 99164 or 99163
Required for Parents & Athletes: You will need to contact your insurance company and provide them with the information that your son/daughter is attending college in Lewiston, Idaho so benefits are clearly understood.
If your primary insurance does not meet the above criteria, and/or only covers emergency care, you will need to purchase a policy through a company like Regence-Blue Cross-Blue Shield. Their link is www.regence.com.
Lastly when the student-athlete is covered under a parental or personal insurance company and it meets the criteria listed above, then he/she must fill out the insurance information requested on-line in the ATS portal for athletes and WarriorWeb for institutional purposes.
