International Insurance Instructions

Please read this information carefully:
  • Travel insurance is NOT the same as health insurance.  Travel policies will NOT be allowed to be used as health insurance while you are a student-athlete at LC State.
  • International student-athletes are required to have the health insurance policy from USCHIP/Total Scholastic Solutions (TSS) before practice or competition is allowed..
  • Do NOT purchase plans from previous years like PGH Global/GBG or any other plans off the web.
  • The only exceptions to this policy that will be considered, is if the insurance meets these requirements and will only be considered on a case-by-case basis:
    • It has a US based claims address
    • There is specific coverage for intercollegiate athletics
    • It has at least $35,000 in coverage per injury

Instructions:
  1. Your coach and/or an athletic trainer will contact you to get the needed information or you will meet on campus with the Head Athletic Trainer.
    1. Do not sign up or purchase anything yourself that you plan to use as health insurance while you are at LC State.
  2. Student-athletes do not pay for insurance themselves by credit card. TSS insurance policy will be applied to each individual's Warrior Web Account at LC State and reflect the pre-determined amount based on dates of coverage.
    1. This allows for scholarships; payment plans and programs to help student-athletes with insurance costs.
  3. Student-athletes will receive confirmation of enrollment in the health insurance policy by e-mail.
    1. That information must be entered into the ATS portal.
    2. Students may then create their TSS account and sign up for the mobile app.
  4. This health insurance plan must be active at all times while you are enrolled as an LC State student-athlete.

Features:
  • Plan meets F1 and J1 visa requirements
  • Plan does NOT cover pre-existing conditions for 6 months. This means it will only cover injuries that occur when this policy is active.
  • Sickness & accident benefits. (Note: benefits mean you pay a smaller % and the insurance pays a bigger % of the total, not full coverage)
  • $35,000 intercollegiate sports injury benefit per separate, unrelated injury
  • The Student Waiver Portal has frequently asked questions.
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation benefits
  • Plan includes physiotherapy, prescription medication, mental health counseling, preventative care and non-sports injury benefits
