Mascot Audition Information

  • When: Tuesday, Sept., 15 at 6 pm in Aux Gym 
  • Bring with you: 
    • Unofficial transcript
    • General availability and class schedule
  • Be prepared for a 5 minute interview
  • Audition:
    • Be prepared to perform a 30 second skit/performance like as if you are actively being the mascot at a game- in costume
    • Demonstrate at least 10 pushups in the costume
    • Demonstrate running from one end of the gym to the other in the suit
  • Note: 
    • Two applicants will be selected after the audition process, and both will receive an $800 scholarship for the season ($400 per semester)
    • If applicant is removed from duty or quits, their scholarship will not continue into the next semester

Application Process

Mascot Application

The identity of the performer is to remain confidential- secrecy is a major part of this position! The selection process includes a digital application, in-person interview, and an in-suit audition. Two students will be selected and will begin practices and events immediately. 

Mascot Scholarship

The mascot scholarship is an $800 annual award, distributed evenly at the beginning of each semester for qualifying LC State students who serve as official ambassadors of our new mascot. 

Eligibility

Applicants and performers must be enrolled full-time at LC State (12+ credits per semester), maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, and be in good disciplinary standing. 

Requirements/Roles

  • Serve as a consistent presence at assigned team, community and school events
  • Willing to appear in various marketing and promotions related duties as assigned
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills, judgement and diplomacy required to interact effectively with community members and students
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Effective time management skills
  • Performers will be required to attend Friday spirit program practices from 12-2 p.m.
  • Work on weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible shifts
  • Work indoors and outdoors (hot temperature, cold temperature, wind, rain, snow, shine)
  • Frequently stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully and reach/work above shoulders
  • Occasionally sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat
  • Visual acuity including color vision
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 Ibs
  • Must be able to run from one end of the gym to the other in costume
  • In fulfilling this responsibility of this position, the person hired is required to comply with all LC State policies and procedures, laws, and NAIA rules and procedures
