Whittaker is a former student-athlete at Lewis-Clark State where he competed in javelin and sprinted from 2012-2016. After competing for the Warriors, he began as the javelin coach among other duties.
In 2018, he took over as the head throws coach where he is in charge of coaching all of the throwing events. In his first season, one of the Warrior women throwers qualified for nationals in the discus and place eighth to claim All-American status. He continued his success in his third year when a female discus thrower reached eighth place again, claiming All-American status. In 2021, he helped student-athletes to a fifth-place finish in women’s javelin and his first National Champion in men’s javelin. Both reached All-American status. Whittaker is responsible for recruiting Warrior throwers.
Whittaker is a 2017 graduate of Lewis-Clark State College where he has a B.S. in Elementary Education, endorsement in Literacy and minors in Middle School Mathematics and Coaching.
In his time off he enjoys being outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and watching sports. Whittaker is from Asotin, Wash.
