WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Lewis-Clark State College jumped on Walla Walla University from the opening tip and romped to a 93-56 non-conference men's basketball victory. With the win, the Warriors improved to 11-1; Walla Walla is 5-7.
"That was our best defensive effort of the season," LC coach
Brandon Rinta said after the Warriors limited the Wolves to 41.7 percent from the field while hitting at a 58.8 clip themselves.
The Warriors opened an early lead and never let up in winning by more than 20 points for the fourth time this season. Every player scored and three reached double figures with Andre McCowan again leading the way – this time with 19. Darius Alexander added 18 and Cory Dollarhide had 13.
Race Martin had eight rebounds in leading that category with Cordel Hankerson and Damek Mitchell with five assists each to lead there. Derek White had four steals as the Warriors also dominated the turnover category – 20-7.
"We came out of the gates with great energy," Rinta said. "Everyone got each other involved offensively, but our best offense was our defense tonight."
The Warriors return to action next Sunday with a doubleheader with the Warrior women against Salish-Kootenai College. First tipoff is 2 p.m.
