Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors dominate Concordia-Edmonton

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State's 10th-ranked men's basketball team controlled every aspect of its Saturday night game against Concordia of Edmonton in winning 110-52 and pushing its record to 12-1.

The Warriors did it after having seen very little of one another since their last outing on Dec. 17.

"The biggest challenge for us is we only had one practice in the last 10 days," coach Austin Johnson said. "We challenged our guys at halftime. They were better the second half defensively by 20 percent."

That statistic was just one of a host that the Warriors dominated. For the fourth time this season, they connected on more than 60 percent of their field goal attempts (61.3) to 29.7 for the Thunder. They had 48 rebounds to 31 for Concordia and forced 19 turnovers while committing 11 themselves.

"We haven't seen a post like (Ronald Bacon Jr.)," Johnson said. "That was good for us. It was a wakeup call for what we're going to start seeing."

Bacon led all scorers with 28 points but all 12 Warriors scored. Damek Mitchell and Cory Dollarhide had 18 each with Blair Moore finishing with 12, Dana Abe 11, and Cordel Hankerson and Andre McCowan 10 apiece. Josiah Westbrook led the way on the boards with 10 and was a single point shy of a double double with nine points.

The Warriors scored the first seven points of the game and opened a 28-9 advantage by the midpoint of the first half. By halftime, the lead was 56-31 and LC was on its way to scoring 100 or more points for the sixth time this season. The Warriors connected on more than 60 percent for the fourth time this season with all 12 players scoring. With 10 3-point goals, they had 10 or more for the sixth time season and for the fourth game in a row.

"The goal isn't just to win, to beat a specific opponent with a name on its jersey," Johnson said. "We try to challenge them and learn from every game."

The two teams meet again Sunday with a 2 p.m. game at the Activity Center.
