Warriors Streak at 12 with Shutout Win

LEWISTON, Idaho  –  One run was all the Lewis-Clark State Warriors needed to keep their winning streak alive Monday at Harris Field.  Warrior first baseman Tyler McDowell singled in Kasey Bailey in the sixth inning, and LC held on for it's 12th consecutive win, a 1-0 victory over Corban University.

The Warriors are now 24-5 overall, and 14-1 in the NAIA West.  Corban dropped to 19-16 overall, and 9-7 in league play.  The Warriors now travel to Burnaby, British Columbia for a four-game series with the University of British Columbia, starting April 6th, and do return home until May 5th.

Monday's game was relatively uneventful until McDowell's game-winner.  LC starter Justin Hammergren allowed a Corban base runner to reach third in the first inning, but got out of the jam with a strike out.  Hammergren, was relieved in the second inning by Tyler Charlo, who went five innings, giving up two hits, and retiring the final six batters he faced.

LC's Lalo Porras and Tanner Simpson made their pitching debuts, going one inning each, and Gage Burland pitched the final inning, picking up his fourth save of the year.

LC had just four hits to Corban's six, with four different Warriors picking up one hit apiece.  The shutout was the fourth recorded by Warrior pitchers this year, and it was the first 1-0 victory for LC since 2014.  The lone run kept the Warriors streak alive of not being shut out, going back to February of 2015, a span of 186 games.  It was also their 300th shutout in school history.
