Eight is Great! - LCSC Volleyball Cruises to Eighth-Straight Win in Conference Opener

HAVRE, Mont. - The Lewis-Clark State Volleyball Team cruised to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) victory over the Montana State-Northern Skylights on Friday night, stretching their win streak to eight games.The sweep improves the Warrior's record to 10-2 on the season and 1-0 in Frontier Conference play.

The Warriors rolled to a quick 25-16 victory in the opening set. At 5-5, the Warriors went on a five-point run sparked by a kill from Rachel Gregg. A second span of five-straight lengthened the lead to 17-9. The Skylights strung together four unanswered to cut the LCSC lead to 23-16 before an ace from Alexa Van Vleet ended the set to put the Warriors up 1-0.
 
LC volleyball controlled the second set, taking an 18-10 lead over the Skylights. MSUN battled to a 20-19 score before the Warriors rattled off five with a kill from Gregg, an ace from Lauren West and a block by Olivia Jarvis to seal the second set victory.
 
A pair of Kills from Sydney Lawrence, and one each from Gregg and Aubrey King helped LCSC jump out to a 5-1 advantage in the third set. The Warriors continued to roll, eventually winning the set 25-16 to complete the match.
 
"We played hard throughout and that is a sign of growth," Head Coach Shaun Pohlman said. "We take each match as it comes and that will prepare us for bigger things to come. We did a good job of keeping the ball alive and preventing errors."
 
Gregg led LCSC with 13 kills in the match, and King added seven. West dished out 33 assists and Gionni Brown led the defense with 11 digs.
 
LCSC continues conference play tomorrow when they travel to Great Falls, Mont. to take on the Argonauts of the University of Providence at 1 p.m.
