Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors Dominate Corban To Remain Undefeated

CALDWELL, Idaho – Damek Mitchell struck for 18 points with Josiah Westbrook adding 15 and Trystan Bradley 13 as Lewis-Clark State College handed Corban University its second loss of the season with an 86-73 victory in the Domino's Classic men's basketball tournament at College of Idaho Friday afternoon.

The Warriors remain undefeated at 7-0 after winning a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicated. They led by as many as 23 points twice in the middle portion of the second half and by 21 as late as the 2:45 mark of the second.

"It was a good win away from home for our guys," coach Austin Johnson said. "I was really pleased with our ball movement and unselfish offensive play."

All told, 10 Warriors scored with five hitting from 3-point range with Westbrook's four tops for the team. Bailey Hodges and Mitchell had two each, and Bradley and Jaxon Hughes each had one. Mitchell also had seven assists as eight Warriors were credited in that category.

Bradley was the top rebounder for LC with eight as it managed a 35-34 advantage on the boards. Westbrook and Travis Yenor had five each.

The Warriors' largest first half lead was 11 points, 42-31, on Yenor's jumper with 1:21 to go. While it was Yenor who pushed them to that advantage, it was Westbrook who paved the way with four 3-point goals and a free throw for 13 first-half points. Bradley added another 3 as did Mitchell, Bailey and Hughes as LC led 42-33 at the half. All told, eight Warriors scored in the opening 20 minutes.

They started the second half in full stride in outscoring Corban 13-2 in the first three minutes to enhance their lead to 20, 55-35, with 16:03 left to play and take control of the game. Mitchell was the offensive leader in the second 20 minutes with 13 of his 18 points.

"We still have work to do defensively as we move forward," Johnson said, "but I do believe we are growing and making progress as a team."
