Women’s Basketball Frontier Conference Semifinal Preview

LEWISTON, Idaho – Top seeds reigned in the quarterfinal round of the 2018-19 Frontier Conference Playoffs, and after its 71-57 win over Providence the No. 22 Lewis-Clark State women's basketball team is heading to Dillon, Mont. to take on the No. 4 Montana Western Bulldogs. Seeding is as follows:
 
No. 1 – Montana Western (15-3, 24-3)
No. 2 – Carroll College (14-4, 23-7)
No. 3 – Rocky Mountain (10-8, 20-11)
No. 4 – Lewis-Clark (9-9, 20-10)
No. 5 – Providence (7-11, 18-13) - Eliminated
No. 6 – MSU-Northern (5-13, 13-18) - Eliminated
No. 7 - Montana Tech (3-15, 13-17) – Eliminated

The Warriors (9-9, 20-10)
The Warriors snapped a three-game skid with a big win over Providence on Tuesday, avenging their loss to the Argos to close out the regular season. The Warriors' senior trio shined in their final game in the Activity Center, tallying 38 of LC's 71 points.
 
Hailey Turner led the charge with 14 points, followed closely by Cali Moscrip and Jossilyn Blackman with 12 each. All of Moscrip's buckets were 3s, shooting 4-for-8 from behind the arc and she dished seven assists. Turner grabbed 10 rebounds to record a double-double.
 
The Warriors out-rebounded the Argos 40-30 and snagged 11 steals, led by Moscrip and Abbie Johnson with three each.
 
The Opponent
Semifinals – Mar. 1 – Montana Western Bulldogs (15-3, 24-3)
The Bulldogs have been one of the top teams in the nation all season long, thanks in part to standout Brianna King. The Warriors pulled off a major upset in their last meeting with the Bulldogs, taking them down in Dillon 68-63. Turner tied a career-high in the contest with 19 points and Johnson added 16 plus 10 rebounds for a double-double.
 
UMW's King has dominated the Frontier Conference from the start. The senior leads the conference in scoring (22.33 points per game) and steals (73) and is in the top 10 in the nation in points per game and total scoring (603 points). She is second in the conference in field goal percentage (.475).
 
As a team, the Bulldogs rank second in NAIA DI in field goal percentage (.467) and fourth in both scoring defense per game (50.78) and total rebound defense (31.26).

The winner of Friday's game will advance to play in Monday's Frontier Conference Championship. The highest remaining seed will host the lowest remaining seed at 7 p.m. local time.
