Men’s Basketball Frontier Conference Semifinal Preview

LEWISTON, Idaho – The No. 12 Lewis-Clark State men's basketball team stormed past the seventh-seeded Montana Western Bulldogs on Wednesday, coming away with a 94-74 win to advance to the Frontier Conference Semifinals. With the sixth seed Montana Tech upsetting third-seeded Rocky Mountain, the Warriors are set to host fourth-seeded MSU-Northern on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Activity Center. Seeding for the playoffs is as follows:
 
No. 1 – Carroll College (13-5, 24-6)
No. 2 – Lewis-Clark State (13-5, 25-6)
No. 3 – Rocky Mountain (10-8, 19-12) – Eliminated
No. 4 – MSU-Northern (9-9, 18-13)
No. 5 – University of Providence (9-9, 18-12) – Eliminated
No. 6 – Montana Tech (6-12, 17-14)
No. 7 - Montana Western (3-15, 9-21) – Eliminated

The Warriors (13-5, 24-6)
The No. 12 Lewis-Clark State men's basketball team is currently riding a nine-game winning streak heading into Saturday's contest. The Warriors took down Montana Western 94-74 in the quarterfinals.
 
Dana Abe led the Warriors with 17 points in a game in which every LC player scored. Damek Mitchell added 13 points and Race Martin had 12. Derrick White scored 10 points and led the team in assists with five.
 
The Warriors dished out a whopping 26 assists, compared to UMW's eight and won the battle at the boards 32-25. LC shot 62 percent from the field (37-60) and hit 11 3s. Mitchell, Martin, David Shedrick and Josiah Westbrook all drained two each.
 
The Opponent
Semifinals – Mar. 2 – MSU-Northern Lights (9-9, 18-13)
The Lights edged the Warriors in their first meeting of the season, coming away with a 99-95 victory. LC took the final two games against MSUN by scores of 79-63 and 73-67. The last time the two teams faced off was Feb. 22 when Trystan Bradley led LC with 16 points in the contest. Abe chipped in 15 and White had 14.
 
Mascio McCadney leads MSUN in scoring at 13.3 points per game. He has totaled 400 points this season. Cedric Crutchfield leads the defense with 5.9 rebounds per game. He is second in the Frontier Conference in blocks per game (1.00) and has posted 31 on the season. Devin Bray is third in the conference in assists per game (3.68) and Adam Huse is fifth (3.60).
 
The Lights rank first in NAIA DI in assist/turnover ratio (1.87) and second in total rebound defense (29.16). Huse is second in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (3.86).
 
The Details
The two teams will go head-to-head on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Activity Center. Tickets are on sale now in the LC Athletics Ticket Office.
 
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to play in Tuesday's Frontier Conference Championship game. The highest remaining seed will host the lowest remaining seed at 7 p.m. local time.
