Louder Wins Warrior Invite; Davila Ties For Fourth

LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State senior Marissa Louder rallied from four strokes back Tuesday to win the Warrior Invitational Golf Tournament by one stroke at Lewiston Golf and Country Club.

Louder started the day four strokes behind Idaho's Eddie Hsu but while Hsu soared to an 83 Tuesday, Louder turned in a 77 for her two-day 152. Idaho's Grace Frazier pushed her teammate back to third after a second-round 77 for second with a 153. Hsu was third at 154.

"I felt like I hit my driver really well. That kept me going," said Louder, who, while paired with Hsu and Frazier, wasn't fully aware of her standing until after the scores were posted. "I was really aware of it today. I try not to thing about (leading) too much."

Carlos Davila was the top Warrior in the men's portion of the tournament after tying for fourth. He added a 75 Tuesday to his opening 74 for a total 149. Former LC player Travis Hansen had back-to-back 71s to win the tournament with a 142 over fellow Vandal Colt Sherrell with a 143.

In the team competition for the men, LC out-paced Olympic College 639-691. Idaho and Washington State players competed as individuals as did all of the women's players.

For Warrior coach Kyla Lien, there was improvement from day one to day two.

"I definitely saw a lot more thinking out there today – you can see that in their scores," she said.

Still, there were some execution miscues she wants to see corrected.

"There definitely are some things we need to work on – wedges, short game, putting," she said. "There were a lot of strokes left out there. But, they are thinking in the right direction. If we can peak at conference, that's ideal."
