LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 20 LC State Men's Golf wrapped up The Warrior Fall Invitational, held at the Lewiston Golf & Country Club, on Tuesday. Freshman
Carson Clinton made a statement in his first taste of collegiate action as he shot 7-under to take the individual title.
The Warrior men finished second after No. 15 British Columbia edged LC State in the final holes. UBC finished 7-under to best LC State by three strokes. Two Warriors earned all-tournament honors in Clinton and individual
Hunter Millsap.
"Unfortunately, couldn't get it done. Just faltered down the stretch a bit, but it was exciting to be in the fight again. Winning is hard and you have to be solid down the stretch which was an issue for us today," coach
Zach Anderson said.
Clinton continued his dominance from day one with a round of 3-under to finish the week 69-71-69. The freshman, who birdied six holes including his final of the week, won the contest by four strokes over British Columbia's Aneesh Kaura and College of Idaho's Drisan Booth.
"Carson was impressive," Anderson added. "Proud of the work he has put in in recent weeks to get to this point. He did a great job of putting the mental preparation tools that we have been talking about into play. As stated, winning is hard and he did it in his first try. Excited for the rest of this season and seeing what he is capable of."
