LA GRANDE, Ore. – After a dominating series against Oregon Tech to wrap up the regular season, the Lewis-Clark State baseball team clinched their eighth-straight NAIA West Title.
Kody Garvin was named the Cascade Conference Red Lion Player of the Week after helping lead the Warriors to a 4-1 record in their final five games.
"The slow start to the season, followed by our turn around and success coming down the stretch is a testament to the players," coach
Jake Taylor said. "They stayed focused and kept improving."
Garvin had an impressive showing at the plate for the Warriors across all five games. He notched 11 hits in 21 at-bats for a batting average of .524. The senior from Meridian, Idaho knocked in 11 runs, scored five and tallied six extra base hits with four doubles and three home runs.
"Kody had an exceptional weekend to end the regular season. He continues to improve and he performed at a very high level," Taylor said.
With their eighth-straight NAIA West Title under their belts, the Warriors await the start of the 2019 Avitsa NAIA World Series. The Series begins May 24 at Harris Field.
