LEWISTON, Idaho – Southridge on a players' résumé is a sure way to catch the attention of Lewis-Clark State coach
Austin Johnson. And Brock Henry, who graduates from the Beaverton, Ore., high school this spring, did just that and was added to the list of players to land on a Johnson-led team.
"He will be the sixth player from Southridge High that I have had the opportunity to coach," said Johnson of Henry, a 6-3 guard. "Coach (Phil) Vesel at Southridge does a tremendous job and has helped Brock really develop."
That development enabled Henry to become Southridge's all-time leading scorer (1,145) en route to a career that included twice being chosen to the All-Metro League team and earning Metro League co-Player of the Year as a senior.
During Henry's junior season, Southridge won the Metro League and finished with a 25-4 record. During Henry's senior season, Southridge battled through an injury-plagued year to finish second in the league and 16-10 overall.
"He is a very intelligent scorer both inside and outside of the arc," Johnson said. "He has a great feel both with and without the ball. As he gets stronger, we are confident he will be a major part of where our program heads.
"We have extremely high expectations for Brock."
