LEWISTON, Idaho – The No. 25 Warrior Men's Tennis team dropped two matches over the weekend to two NCAA opponents. The Warriors fell on Friday night to visiting NCAA DIII George Fox by a final of 2-5, then faced a tough NCAA DI Montana team, losing 0-7.
FRIDAY, FEB. 15: George Fox def. LCSC 2-5
Marcus Gavelin and Larry Magalasin took home a 7-6 (8) victory in the No. 3 doubles. George Fox won in the first and second spot to earn the doubles point.
"The Bruins came out firing in doubles on all cylinders to take huge leads in each of the top three doubles," coach Kai Fong said. "It was good to see our players composed under such circumstances."
Gunnar Harlan and Matus Rusnak picked up victories in singles play for LC State, both in straight sets. Harlan took his opponent 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 4 spot, while Rusnak won in the sixth slot 7-6, 6-2.
"Matus Rusnak, a freshman transfer this semester, had a winning debut at No. 6 singles for the Warriors," Fong explained. "He and Vannasak Chheang also completed the comeback in doubles after being down 4-1."

The Warriors faced a strong opponent in NCAA DI Montana on Saturday, falling in straight sets in every match.
In doubles play, William Bruchard and Vannasak Chheang (No. 2), and Gavelin and Magalasin (No. 3) each won two games before falling 6-2.
Magalasin put up a fight in No. 2 singles, losing a tiebreaker in the first set before being edged in the second (7-5, 6-3). Harlan forced a tiebreaker in the first set of his No. 3 match (7-5, 6-1).
