Men’s Tennis Dominates Whitman, Women Fall to Idaho State

LEWISTON, Idaho – Warrior Tennis split a pair of matches on Monday, with the women falling to NCAA DI Idaho State 0-7, and the No. 25 men picking up a 7-0 victory over NCAA DIII Whitman.

Idaho State def. LCSC Women 0-7
Laura Diaz and Begona Andres picked up a doubles victory in the top spot, winning their match by a score of 6-5. The Bengals took the second and third matches to pick up the doubles point.

Andres battled in the No. 1 singles, taking six games from the Bengals' top player. After falling in the first set, she was narrowly edged in set two (6-2, 6-4). Laura Rosselli (No. 3 singles) also picked up a few victories in her singles match, falling 6-2, 6-3.

The men were dominant from the start, making quick work of the Blues in doubles before taking all six singles matches.

Marcus Gavelin and Larry Magalasin took No. 3 doubles and dropped just one game (6-1). Luca Menezes and William Bruchard (No. 1 doubles) took down their opponents 6-2, and the No. 2 duo of Matus Rusnak and Vannasak Chheang won 6-4.

Magalasin and Rusnak each dropped just three games in singles play. Magalasin won No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2, and Rusnak took No. 5 singles by the same score. Gunnar Harlan had a strong win in the fourth slot, taking his opponent down 6-2, 6-3.

Bruchard's top singles match went to a tie breaker in the second set (6-3, 7-5), as did Menezes in the second spot (6-4, 7-6). Roberto Salazar battled his way through three sets to win No. 6 singles 6-7, 6-1, 10-7.
