CORVALLIS, Ore. – As the Cascade Conference returns to normalcy, there is the return of the preseason poll.
Both LC State men's and women's basketball teams are coming off national tournament appearances, and both were picked to finish third in the Cascade for the 2021-22 season. The men received 125 points and four first-place votes, while the women collected 114 points along with one first-place vote.
The Oregon Tech Owls were tabbed as the preseason favorite on the men's side with 135 points to go along with their five first-place votes. College of Idaho took second place, acquiring 127 votes and two first-place nods as it narrowly beat out LC. Rounding out the top five was Corban and Southern Oregon who got 108 and 104 votes, respectively. Corban also received a first-place vote.
Bushnell was selected as the preseason CCC favorite for the women, gathering 142 points and 10 first-place votes. Eastern Oregon grabbed the second spot as it was the only other school besides LC State and the Beacons to collect a first-place vote. Oregon Tech took fourth with 104 points, followed by Southern Oregon with 97 total points.
The men continue their schedule at home on Oct. 27 and 28 against Yellowstone Christian. The women open their season when they host NCAA Division III Whitman on Nov. 2 in the Activity Center.
