Warrior Weekly Preview - Dec. 13-19

LEWISTON, Idaho – Both LC State Basketball teams jump back into Cascade Conference play this weekend with a trip to Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho. The Warriors will take time off after the contests for the winter holiday before returning to the Activity Center on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Warrior women (9-0) remained undefeated with a 73-45 victory at NCAA Division III George Fox on Saturday. LC State heads south this weekend to take on EOU and C of I in CCC action. The Warriors are one of three Cascade teams with perfect conference records through the first three games.

LC is 5-3 against EOU dating back to 2006 and took the last meeting by a final of 79-61 in Feb. of 2021. The Warriors are 10-0 in games against the Yotes dating back to 2007. The only NAIA teams in Idaho faced off four times last season, with LC taking all four meetings. They defeated C of I 97-66 in the CCC Championship.

The Warrior women lead the CCC in field goal percentage defense (.331), rebounding (46.3) and blocked shots per game (5.0). 

Maddie Holm leads the conference in rebounding (11.1) and Sara Muehlhausen is fifth (9.0). Holm is in the top five in 3-point field goal percentage (.400), Callie Stevens is second in 3-pointers made per game (2.7) and Muehlhausen is second in blocked shots per game (2.0). Adyson Clabby is second in assist/turnover ratio (5.8).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The 20th-ranked LC Men’s Basketball team (10-1) will take on a ranked team for the first time this season in No. 15 College of Idaho on Saturday. The Warriors open the weekend at Eastern Oregon and enter the slate of games as one of two teams without a loss in CCC play.

The Warriors have not faced Eastern Oregon since 2013 and are 0-4 dating back to 2008. EOU took the last meeting 66-63. LC is 7-4 against C of I since 2009 and won both matchups last season. The Warriors defeated the Yotes 80-71 to win the CCC title. 

LC State leads the CCC in scoring offense (94.5), scoring defense (63.0), scoring margin (31.5), field goal percentage (.536), field goal percentage defense (.374), rebounding margin (17.0) and assist/turnover ratio (1.7). The Warriors are second in the nation in scoring and third in field goal percentage.

Sam Stockton leads the Cascade in field goal percentage (.825). He is in the top five in assist/turnover ratio (5.8) and Kevin Baker is in the top five in 3-point field goal percentage (.463).
