NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Warrior tennis troupe started off its New Orleans road trip on Friday with contests against Xavier (La.). Both Xavier squads are ranked in the top 10 in the most recent NAIA rankings, with the men ranked 10^th and the women at No. 3. This proved to be a tough matchup for the Warriors with both teams falling 1-6.
 
In singles action, the big highlight came from Begona Andres on the women's side. She took on the top singles competitor from Xavier and came away with a 7-6, 6-0 victory. Andre DuPlessis on the men's team came the closest from the that side to take a singles match, but was just short by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 5-7.
 
The sole wins on the men's side came in doubles action. William Bruchard and Itaru Kikuchi faced the No. 1 Xavier team and defeated them by a score of 7-6. Then, the team of Marcus Gavelin and Andy Wu took on Xavier's second doubles team and took them down solidly by a score of 6-3.
