LEWISTON, Idaho – The 24th-ranked LC State Warriors Men's Tennis squad had their hands full over the weekend when they took on the NCAA DI Boise State and Seattle U. After falling 0-7 to Boise State on Saturday, the Warriors earned two points with two singles wins against Seattle U on Sunday.
"We faced a good variety of playing styles this last three matches," Head Coach
Kai Fong said. "After facing the hard-hitting Idaho Vandals a week ago, we had to battle a different strength in Boise State. They had players who just kept coming at us relentlessly no matter what we threw at them. Against the Seattle Redhawks, we were able to battle them more evenly.
"It is good to see the players respond productively from lessons learned each time," Fong continue. "Losing is never fun, but we have to take that in stride and get more determined to improve. They players are getting better with each competition."
SATURDAY: Boise State def. LC State 7-0
In doubles actions, both the No. 1 and No.2 pairings for LC State took four games from their counterparts in the blue and orange.
William Bruchard and
Itaru Kikuchi fought valiantly, but ultimately fell to the top BSU team by a score of 4-6.
Gunnar Harlan and
Andre Du Plessis also came close to securing a win, but the match ended after the clinching match on court three. The pair were within one at 4-5.
Boise State continued its dominance in singles action. The highlight for the Warriors came from Kikuchi. The Warrior in the top spot had the closest match of the afternoon, though it was not enough to secure the win. Kikuchi fell by a score of 6-7, 2-6.

Matches were highly contested in doubles to start the day. Gavelin and Wu fought to a tie breaker before falling 6-7 (4) in No. 3 doubles. Harlan and Du Plessis took four games in their 4-6 loss at No. 2 doubles, and Kikuchi and Bruchard fell 3-6.
