LA GRANDE, Ore. – The LC State Volleyball season came to an end on Saturday with a loss to No. 8 Eastern Oregon in La Grande, Ore. The Warriors were swept by the Mountaineers 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-13).
Kills by Hallie Seaman, Tori Edwards and Kierstyn York helped LC State to a 4-2 advantage early in the set. EOU quickly bounced back to take an 11-8 lead. The Mountaineers took control and took the set 25-15.
Denise Elder and Edwards tallied kills to begin the second set before a block by Carli Berntson and Elder gave the Warriors a 4-2 lead. A kill by Hannah Martinez broke a 6-6 tie before EOU rallied for an 11-7 advantage. A swing by Edwards and block by Jada Wyms kept things close at 11-10, but the Mounties surged ahead once again. Berntson and Elder went back-to-back before adding another at 21-16, but EOU took the set 25-17.
A pair of kills by Wyms and York gave the Warrior women a 7-5 lead in the third, but the advantage was short-lived. EOU ended the regular season with a 25-13 set victory.
Edwards led the Warriors with eight kills and York added seven. Martinez dealt 19 assists and Kenzie Dean had 15 digs. Wyms tallied five kills on a .556 attack percentage.
With the pair of losses, the Warriors fall to 7-7 on the season and just outside the cut for the CCC playoffs. LC State will return to action in the fall of 2021.
