LEWISTON, Idaho – Head Coach
Brian Orr announced another addition to next year's talented class of incoming Warriors with Deer Park, Wash., native Darian Herring. The 6-1 forward joins Grace Beardin and Tatum Brager as part of the 2023 recruiting class.
"We were really surprised and excited when Darian chose LC State," Orr said. "She is a great fit for our system, starting with our goal to get more athletic. Honestly, we didn't realize just how athletic she is until her campus visit. Darian is a long 6-1 and is really fast and very versatile. She's going to be able to stretch defenses out of the trail or be the rim runner in transition. She can score inside with her back to the basket or step out on the perimeter and be a play maker as a point-forward. We also see her fitting extremely well in our defensive system. Her length and athleticism will allow her to defend both inside and perimeter players. It's exciting to think about Darian's addition to this recruiting class, there's no doubt we just got better."
Herring, a senior at Deer Park High School, is a first-team all-league performer and was the league MVP as a sophomore. A team captain this season, she earned the school's Outstanding Academic Achievement award and also competes in volleyball and softball.
