Five Warriors Earn CCC Honors After Dominant Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. â€“ LC State dominated the Cascade Conference WVT Laboratory weekly awards with five honorees, announced by the conference on Monday. The Warriors swept men’s and women’s basketball awards with Oreon Courtney and Callie Stevens sweeping the category. Cole Olsen and Madigan Kelly picked up both Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors, and Sam Linscott was tabbed the Baseball Player of the Week.

CALLIE STEVENS – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Stevens helped the No. 21 LC State Warriors to three wins last week, including a hard-fought victory over Bushnell where she tied a career-high with 30 points. The sophomore scored the first 15 LC points of the contest. Stevens scored a game-high 26 in the win over Walla Walla, then added 16 in 24 minutes against Corban. She averaged 24 points per game in the three wins with a .491 field goal percentage. She made 11 3-pointers and nine free throws. The guard had five steals in the game against Corban.

This is the third weekly honor for Stevens this season.

OREON COURTNEY – MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Courtney helped the Warriors to three wins last week and averaged 15.3 points and seven rebounds per game. He notched a double-double in dramatic victory over Corban with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and was efficient with a .571 field goal percentage across the three games.

This is Courtney’s first weekly honor in his career.

MADIGAN KELLY – WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Kelly had a busy weekend at the Whitworth Invitational. The freshman wrapped up the regular season with an automatic-qualifying time as a member of the 4x400m relay (3:56.67). She finished in the top five of both heats of the 60m hurdles, and was 18th in the 60m dash.

This is Kelly’s third weekly honor this season.

COLE OLSEN – MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Olsen ran a program-best time in the 3000m (8:16.29), breaking the record set in 2016 by Olympian Sam Atkin. Olsen won the event by four seconds and holds the third-fastest time in the NAIA.

This is Olsen’s second weekly honor this season, first in track, and the 16th overall conference weekly honor of his career.

SAM LINSCOTT – BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Linscott continued his strong start to the season and raised his season batting average above .500 over the weekend. He went 7-for-11 (.636) in three wins over NCAA DIII Whitworth, with five RBI and four stolen bases. Linscott is now 10-for-10 in stolen bases this season.

This is the first weekly honor of Linscott’s career.
